What is TEC Certification?
A TEC certificate states that a model of telecom equipment has been tested by a TEC-designated lab against TEC’s Essential Requirements (ERs) and complies with them. The ERs cover areas such as safety, EMI/EMC, technical parameters and security aspects. Certification is issued per model after TEC evaluates the test report. TEC also issues generic and interface requirements and designates testing labs.
Under the amended MTCTE procedure v3.0 (TEC 93009:2024), certification becomes effective from the date mandatory testing is notified for that equipment or six months from the certificate issue, whichever is later. Two schemes are listed: General Certification Scheme and Simplified Certification Scheme. Fees are prescribed in the procedure.
