What is Fssai State?

A State FSSAI licence is a licence under the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration) Regulations issued by the State or UT Food Safety Commissioner’s licensing authority to medium-sized food businesses. It permits manufacturing, storage, distribution, retail, restaurant or other food activity within the state and carries a 14-digit licence number that must be printed on packaging and displayed at the premises.

The turnover band is from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 crore, and transport businesses with up to 100 vehicles and up to 100 vending machines in one state also qualify. Fees depend on the category of business, and sources quote Rs 2,000 for manufacturing and Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 for others.
