Service Overview

What is Fssai Return?

The FSSAI annual return is a mandatory declaration of the quantity and value of food products manufactured, imported, exported or sold by licensed food businesses in the preceding financial year, filed under the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration) Regulations. Form D-1 is the annual return, and Form D-2 is the half-yearly return filed by dairy businesses.

Traders who only sell, store, distribute or handle food are generally not required to file. Petty registered-only businesses are also generally exempt. The return is filed online, and the details include product-wise quantities (in tonnes), values, package sizes, import or export rates and sources of raw materials.

Who Needs This Service

Licensed food manufacturers and processors, importers and exporters, packers, repackers, labellers and relabellers, cloud kitchens that manufacture, and dairy units need to file returns.

Businesses with multiple licences must file separate returns for each.

Companies that only trade packaged foods without manufacturing may not need to file, but they should confirm their licence conditions.

If you missed past returns, we can help regularise filings and reduce late fee exposure.
