Fssai Renewal

FSSAI licences and registrations must be renewed before they expire, through the FoSCoS portal using the existing licence number. The renewal fee equals the original fee. FSSAI says renewal can be initiated as early as 180 days before expiry. Other points, such as the late fee before expiry, the post-expiry grace window and penalties, are described differently by different sources.

Service Overview

What is Fssai Renewal?

Renewal is the extension of an FSSAI licence or registration for a further period of one to five years by filing a renewal application and paying the licence fee. FSSAI’s 2025 consultation notice also discusses introducing fixed renewal cycles and prolonged validity so that all licences have uniform expiry dates.

Older pages say a late fee of Rs 100 per day applies if filed within 30 days of expiry and up to Rs 100 per day after expiry, while a source quoting FSSAI’s 2025 consultation paper says the pre-expiry late fee was discontinued after instant renewals. Some sources say renewal is allowed up to 180 days after expiry with penalties of up to three times or five times the annual fee, others say an expired licence needs a fresh application.
