It is an autonomous statutory organization established on July 1, 1988 under Water and Air Act, 1974. However, before the formation of Goa State Pollution Board, the Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution was performing its functions. For this purpose, the Central Pollution Board Ponda-Goa had been established as a Section Office.
